YCP is pleased to announce that its client, Iwata & Co., Ltd., a Japanese specialty chemical trading company, has successfully acquired 100% of EQX Materials Sdn Bhd’s equity.

EQX Materials, a distributor of chemical products, semiconductors, and construction materials, founded in Malaysia and operating across Asia, has agreed to sell 100% of its equity to Iwata & Co., which will become the sole owner of EQX Materials.

The acquisition of EQX Materials aims to help Iwata, which was founded in 1947, achieve its global ambition of building a strong foothold outside of Japan by leveraging its product expertise and industry know-how.

YCP was a buy-side financial advisor to Iwata management on the transaction. The YCP Deal team was led by our Partner, Gary Murakami, and his team consisting of Shintaro Yukitoshi, Fei Yong, and Oanh Nguyen.
